prometheus4Let the theories and opinions begin!!  According to The Wrap, PROMETHEUS 2 is moving forward with a new writer.  I know a lot of you were very disappointed with PROMETHEUS and its lack of a direct connection to the ALIEN franchise.  But if you were paying attention to what Ridley Scott himself was saying and not the studio execs you’d have known that PROMETHEUS was not intended to be a direct prequel to Scott’s ALIEN.  It was a standalone film that contained elements from the ALIEN franchise.  The studio, though, promoted it like another entry in the ALIEN film franchise and really pissed people off.   I really enjoyed PROMETHEUS.  Not, it’s not a perfect film.  Some of the characters do some really stupid things and there’s some severe logical flaws in the film, but I enjoyed the overall story and am really looking forward to a sequel to see what direction the story goes in.

And now it looks like we’re gonna get the chance to see another entry.  According to The Wrap, 20th Century Fox is moving forward with screenwriter Jack Paglen to write the PROMETHEUS 2 sequel (that’s just the working title).

Paglen has been rumored for the coveted gig for several weeks, though it appears that [20th Century Fox] has now signed off on his take and negotiations will quickly lead to a deal, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.Prometheus-2

Why make another PROMETHEUS?  Well I can think of 403 million reasons.  That’s right, the first film grossed and impressive $403 million on a budget of $130 million.  Of course there’s gonna be a sequel!!  No word yet on whether Ridley Scott is going to have any involvement in the sequel.

PROMETHEUS starred Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, a God-fearing archaeologist who stumbles upon the Engineers, an alien race that served as the architects of humanity.  Michael Fassbender co-starred as an android named David whose remains, by the end of the film, help sole human survivor Shaw launch an Engineer spacecraft bound for their home planet. The last shot featured an alien creature bursting out of an Engineer’s chest, and a sequel could incorporate that terrifying development.

 Stay Bloody!!!
